Sept. 23: Baseball elections
The Rappahannock Athletic Association will be holding its annual Board of Elections meeting at Stuart Field on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 4:00 p.m. All members of the league are strongly encouraged to be in attendance and take part in nominating and electing a new board for the upcoming baseball season. Sept. 23: Charity Ride
American Road Motorcycles, located at 14828 Lee Hwy, Amissville will have a charity ride on Sunday, Sept. 23 for the family of Ryan Oyster, seven year marine corps vet. Tours of duty included Iraq, where Ryan became ill and was medically discharged, sadly Ryan lost his battle and passed away on July 2 leaving his wife and four children. Jr. Edwards Memorial Horseshoe Tournament on Sunday, Sept. 23 at The Culpeper American Legion, 14222 Rixeyville Rd., Culpeper. Registration begins at 11 a. m. First pitch at 12:30. Partners are luck of the draw, double elimination singles and pick your own partner competition after. Lots of great prizes, 50/50, trophies. Need a ride to the doctor? Due to the need of many in Rappahannock County for transportation to medical appointments, a group of local churches and community organizations have developed a program known as RappMedRides. On Tuesday, Sept. 25, the American Cancer Society will hold a training from 1 to 3 at the library for volunteer drivers. This is so Rappahannock drivers can transport people to cancer treatment under the ACS Road to Recovery program. This can also be a refresher course for those already driving. Elder Care Meeting
The Rappahannock Elder Care Coalition, a group of local professionals and citizens devoted to better care of the elderly, will start meeting again on Sept. 27, at the library at 1 pm. The Elder Care Coalition will be, among other topics, discussing the Senior Navigator website, with a representative present to answer questions. The meetings will, unless otherwise noted, be held on the fourth Thursday, every month afterwards. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
