Hie Jordan River Farm is a 328-acre nature and retreat center located 12 miles south of Front Royal. We have been chemical free since 1971 and were one of the first 6 farms in the state to be officially certified organic in 1988. Jordan River Farm was nominated for the 2003 Clean Water Farm Award by the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District. As an organic farm we had a 100 head beef herd, 300 laying hens, 3 acres of pick-your-own strawberries and a market garden. In addition, for 10 years we conducted farm tours and classes for school children. Nearly every elementary school from Front Royal has been to our farm over the years. We have also had student day visits from as far away as Baltimore and foreign students from France, Chile and Japan. We have hosted the Governor’s School for the Gifted.
The existing 500 kV Dominion power line cuts right across our farm.
