The Washington Town Council considered methods to reduce speeding in the town of Washington at its meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 12.
David Cubbage, a planner with the Virginia Department of Transportation, presented several options the town council could pursue. The measures ranged from adding signs warning drivers of speeding fines to building a roundabout. Washington Mayor Eugene Leggett disapproved of the roundabout idea, which he said would ruin the historic town grid.
Cubbage, too, recommended less drastic steps.
