The School Board and Dr. Chappell were warned during this year’s budget process that there was going to be a significant drop in the enrollment. Supervisor Ron Frazier told them that by his calculations he saw at least a drop of 20 students. Many people, myself included, calculated an even larger drop.
The Weldon-Cooper ADM report showed the enrollment to be 968 students. Dr. Chappell came up with 995 students, a miscalculation of 54 students. Where did he come up with that number? What are his research resources?
Dr. Chappell said he saved the county taxpayers $8,000 by combining two positions. These two positions were not needed nor are they required by the state. An assistant superintendent, which was formed by these two positions, is also not required by the state because of the small size of our school.
