Also in October, Next Step took 30 students on a “Virginia College Tour” to JMU, Bridgewater, UVA, Old Dominion University, Christopher Newport, and Mary Washington.
Farm-to-Table
A fall Horticulture class was scheduled at the high school to accommodate the growing number of participants.
High school students in the program have donated over 400 pounds of produce to the school cafeterias and the Rappahannock Senior Center since June.
A record 53 students enrolled in 6th / 7th grade Agriculture Exploratory classes at RCES this fall.
The Rappahannock Garden Club helped with the purchase of rain barrels for a water conservation project at the elementary school garden. Students will use their math skills to calculate the exact amount of water saved.
The Garden Club also helped purchase native plants for students to grow and sell to community members to develop their riparian areas, a partnership with RappFlow.
