In a phone interview after the official results were announced, Hitt offered congratulations to Mills on his victory.
She said she will stay involved in sports and education and push for changes in Rappahannock.
“I will continue to do and say what I feel and what I think should happen,” she said.
The support she saw from voters on Tuesday, she thinks, indicates people want a new direction for the school board.
“It means that people want a change,” she said.
She plans to run again.
