On Tuesday November 13, from 1:30 pun. to 4:30 pja, the public is invited to the Grand Opening celebration of a new resource for the many families in the area who are helping an aging mother; lather or other adult relative with daily care. Currently 80 permit of elder care in this region is provided by families, with 44 permit of that care coming from aging spouses. The new DayBreak Adult Day Healthcare program, located at 13820 Eggbornsville Road in Culpeper, offers those families a break from daily routines that can help both the caregiver and their loved one get the most out ofbfe.
The program was developed by the Aging Together Partnership, a collaboration of over 100 local organizations in response to input from older adults and caregivers in Rappahannock, Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, and Orange counties.
DayBreak offers care provided by a Registered Nurse, a therapeutic recreation specialist and trained aides, ftirticipants will eryoy stimulating activities, a safe and nurturing environment, a chance to make new friends, and a change of scenery While their loved ones are involved in center activities, caregivers will have time to attend to other aspects of their lives, from work to shopping to simply relaxing.
“You know; I thought this was about respite far me,” said the spouse of an adult day care participant, “but the interesting thing is that my husband began to change once he started going to the center They do so much to keep his mind active, things I just don’t have the thm» to do.”
Hie program, open Monday thmugh Friday, offers a wide range of services including recreation and socialization, health monitoring, rnedkatkm administration, a nutritious lunch special therapies as needed.
