Celebrating Veterans

November 11 is Veterans Day. Rappahannock

County High School is honored to host the annual

community ceremony to honor our veterans.

Hosted by the Rappahannock County Band Boosters, everyone is invited to attend this annual event. It will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 9 The guest speaker this year will be Captain Michael Del Grosso, USMC. Captain Del Grosso retired hum the Marine Corps in June 2007 and resides in Washington, VA with his wife, Juliet, and their two sons, Anthony and Dominic. Mike grew up in Flint Hill and graduated from Rappahannock High School in 1984. The program will include a performance by the RCHS band. Refreshments will be served following the program.

This Sunday, November 11, will be the Starfish Mentoring Program’s annual Veteran’s Day Celebration.

The event will begin with a luncheon for mentors and their proteges at the Washington Town Hall, where speaker Lee Hitt will honor local soldiers currently serving and those who served in years past

The young people will then work with their mentors to write thank-you notes to local servicemen on active duty The event will conclude with a ceremony at The Sperryville Cemetery’s recently-dedicated Veterans’ Memorial.
