Let me preface this series with a statement of personal belief. The spirit of the holidays, whether one honors Jesus, Buddha, Mother Earth, Allah, or some other spiritual path, lies in building rituals and devoting time and energy to honor family and love. I treasure the rituals in families that create and build a sense of identity and belonging. So please do not mistake the information on our shopping opportunities in Sperryville as an emphasis on materialism. We know that one reason for holiday stress and holiday blues is that families spend beyond their budgets and are left with debt. Rather, I hope to be one small voice that supports our village identity, of which holiday shopping is one aspect. I will highlight as many businesses and products as possible in the next few weeks to enable yotr to shop at home, save money on gas and avoid crowds. All suggestions are welcome.
