Its not often that landowners ask for more restrictions on their property than what the government is willing to grant them. But that’s what happened Monday evening at the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors meeting.

The board unanimously approved a special-exception permit for Montpelier to be used as a venue for weddings, conferences and similar events. Roger and Sophie Scruton, the owners of the 18th-century mansion, submitted an application to the supervisors with 15 conditions attached to it.
