In looking back at the road that led her to sheriff, Smith on Tuesday remembered some inspiring words from another longtime county employee when she was starting out at the sheriffs office.
“Junior Leake the animal warden told me, “You young people have to set goals.’ And that’s what I did,” she said. “If that’s what you want, you don’t let anybody stop you.”
