At a public nearing neid Tuesday, March 21, the Washington Town Council { voted unanimously to grant two variances on lot size to Joyce and Peter Kramer.
The variances will allow the Kramers to cut off lots —both under the ordinance's one-half acre minimum—from the John Carter property at the north end of town and from the Clopton property adjacent to the Rush River Store.
Before hearing from the Kramers, Mayor Newbill Miller advised the Council members on the criteria for evaluating a variance request under the town’s 1970 zoning and subdivision ordinance. A permit may be granted if the applicant can show that strict application of the ordinance would result in undue hardship not generally shared by other property in the same zoning district and if granting the variance will not
