Craig S. Swann of Martinsburg, W. Va. was charged with reckless driving when he was involved in a two-vehicle collision March 22 in Rappahannock. The 74 Ford pickup driven by Swann struck a 77 Ford sedan operated by Mrs. Mary Edna Schaffer of Sperryville, according to a report by Trooper C. A. Moore. Swann sustained minor injuries, said Moore.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Routes 211 and 636 which leads to the local elementary school. Moore’s report said Mrs. Schaffer was slowing to make a left turn from the highway to Route 636 when the pickup struck her car in the rear and then overturned.
In another recent collision parties involved included two drivers, Deborah Hill of Springfield and Roger Simon of Staten Island, N.Y. and a deer, according to Trooper Moore. The deer was killed and Deborah Hill and Nancy Jean West were treated at Fauquier Hospital, Warrenton for minor injuries.
Simon was driving a 77 Volkswagen westbound on Route 211 and struck the deer. He lost control of the VW and struck the Hill car, a 77 Toyota, eastbound.
