Mr. Hitt was an active board member of the Central United Methodist Church in Arlington and the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. He was a thirty-second degree Mason and Shriner, belonging to the Arlington Centennial Lodge, the Columbia Lodge and the Kena Temple.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Lee Hitt; a son Russell A. Hitt, and four grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Edwina Harding of Roundtree, also survives.
A funeral service was held at Central United Methodist Church Tuesday.
Walter
Services for Mariam R. Walter, 87 of Amissville were held Sunday at the Amissville United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. W. Ray Crockett. Interment was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Walter died Friday, March 24, 1978, at her home. Mrs. Walter was the daughter of the late John Newton Rowzie and Molly B. Rowzie and the wife of the late Francis Walter. She was a life-long member of the Amissville United Methodist Church and the WMU and at one time was church organist. She is survived by two
