In foster care, the proposed budget is $24,660 — an increase of $4,440. ‘‘We had 12 in foster care in December and allowed for 13 in the coming year,” said Mrs. Buntin. “We’re cutting it close...It’s unrealistic to expect no increase in our caseload.” She noted that the state advised a 15 per cent increase in foster care appropriations to cover the same caseload.
The total amount for assistances — $53,257 — is down $2,427 from last year’s total. Offsetting the increases in supplemental grants for domicilliary care and other assistance categories is a decrease in federal state matching payments for aid to dependent children from $24,568 to $9,540. However, there are no local funds involved in this category. The total local funds fot assistances in the proposed welfare budget show ar increase of $5,174 over Iasi year.
