Trout season opens in Virginia on April 1. This year over half a million brook, brown and rainbow trout will be stocked in the designated waters throughout the state. The trout streams in Madison and Rappahannock counties alone will provide at least 12,000 opportunities for success. In these two counties trout have been distributed as follows: Garth Run-2250, Rose River-3000, Robinson River-3100, Hughes River2700, and Piney Branch1500.
