Acting on suggestions from Mayor Newbill Miller, the Council members voted unanimously to approve a lot size variance on the Carter property subject to a current Health Department permit for a sewage system. The Clopton property variance was also approved, subject to a current Health Department sewage permit and deed covenants restricting the Rush River Store to two bedrooms should it be converted to a residence.
"The Town Council gets only one chance to do it right, and if we don’t do it right, we have to live with it,” remarked Mayor Miller.
He noted that he’d checked with Charlie Jenkins to make sure the town water system could handle the additional demand that may result from granting Kramer’s variance. “I hope we’ve covered everything because if we haven’t, we’ve made a terrible mistake,” Miller concluded.
