Mrs. Massie responded that the School Board had held an earlier budget meeting to receive public input.
"But there was no budget,” countered Kilpatrick.
Suggestions made at that first meeting were “taken under advisement” by the School Board in formulating the proposed budget.
“Taken under advisement? Thank you,” concluded Kilpatrick as he sat down.
Before a vote was taken on the proposed budget, School Board member Paul Nichols stated that he thought "this meeting tonight was for public input to give us something to work on ... Many things brought up tonight deserve consideration.” He suggested postponing action on the budget to allow for reexamination of proposals and recommended that the School Board ask Supervisor Chairman E.P. Luke (in the audience at the meeting) to extend the time limit for submitting the budget to the Supervisors.
