and even been encouraged. This type of foolish behavior, however, has no place on the trout streams. Here the individual must always act responsibly, practice common sense, and follow several simple rules of etiquette:
1. Keep trout streams and adjoining areas free of litter.
2. Do not disturb areas of water already occupied by other fishermen.
3. Refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages while fishing.
4. Know and obey the fishing laws.
Irresponsible and inconsiderate behavior on the trout streams can have serious repercussions. Since the stocking of designated trout waters in many areas is dependent on the permission of the landowners adjoining the streams,, any abuses by so-called "sportsmen” can jeopardize this goodwill and consequently perpetuate the trend of posting streams and property. If legitimate sportsmen are to continue to have places for their recreation, they must realize the seriousness of the situation and take an active part in cleaning up their sport.
