To the editor:
What is the real motive behind the rezoning request made by Dorothy Davis for their 3.55 acres situated near the entrance to the Town of Washington? Surely it can’t be solely for the reasons stated in the request—according to the Zoning Ordinance it is not necessary to rezone agricultural land to commercial land in order to operate an antique shop—the zoning ordinance states that application for a special use permit and its approval is all that is needed.
Once property is zoned commercial the zoning office has very limited control over the size and abundance of signs on the property, the lovely barn on this property could be turned into another Emporium which would definitely take away from the businesses located in the town.
