At a meeting on March 17, the Rappahannock Welfare Board approved a $179,138 budget for the coming year, an increase of $13,399 over this year’s funding. Local money required by the proposed budget totals $37,629 — a jump of $5,968 from the current year. ,
Elizabeth Buntin, county Welfare Director, requested at Friday’s meeting that Board members Aline Johnson and Carter White present the proposed welfare budget to the Rappahannock Supervisors. In the past, Mrs. Buntin has made the presentation alone. (Welfare Board Chairman J.R. Latham sits on the Board of Supervisors and so is unable to participate with Mrs. Johnson and White.)

Craft Show
A spring artisans event is .. scheduled for Saturday, April 1 in Historic Washington and is sponsored by the Business Council of the town. A showcase of area talent covering many fields will include potters, sculptors, weavers, pewtersmiths, painters, quitters, basket weavers and more.
Demonstrations of these crafts can be seen and all will have their wares for exhibit and on sale. Hours for the event are from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
