An exhibition of the quilts of Jinny Beyer will launch the spring season at The Rush River ‘•^ompiin^ in Washingtonian Saturday, April 1st from 10-5.
Mrs. Beyer, nationallyknown quilting teacher and lecturer, joined the artisans' cooperative on Gay Street in November of 1975.
The focus of the exhibition will be her medallion quilt “Ray of Light,” first-prize winner over 10,000 entries in the Good Housekeeping Magazine's national "quilt competition. Jinny made the quilt with the competition in mind, and began work on it January 1, 1977.
The preliminary competition was based on photographs which had to be submitted by August 31, 1977. “I realized I wasn’t going to be finished, so 1 took the quilt off the frame, photographed it as it was and sent the picture. In the middle of October, Good Housekeeping notified me I was one of the finalists and that I had to send them the finished quilt within the next two weeks. To meet the
