According to rescue squadsman Steve Critzer, the tailing pole clipped Smelser’s left shoulder, knocked him iu the ground and then landed on top of the utility worker’s left knee, leaving an l'/i inch diameter puncture wound. No bones were broken, however.
Smelser was transported by the Washington Rescue Squad to Page County Hospital for treatment.
