Katherine B. Oettinger. chief of the Children’s Bureau of the Department of Health. Education and Welfare, has been appointed the nation’s chief for family planning services. Mrs. Oettinger maintains homes in Washington, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
During the first six months of 1967, $9,796,770 in Federal funds were approved to help finance the construction of hospitals, mental retardation and mental health facilities in Virginia. For this area, Fauquier Hospital was allotted $326,441 in Federal money. Total construction of the new hospital is estimated at $604,030.

THE controversary
over Vepco’s powerlines
was again under discussion as the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection made an aerial survey of the powerline corridor. The group’s battle with Vepco is over an attempt to locate the new powerlines in already existing utility corridors so as not to chop up Virginia’s beautiful countryside needlessly.
Ralph Rowzie resigned for the Rappahannock School Board and at a meeting of the Board a letter of commendation was authorized thanking and commending him for his talent, time and interest.
A 1972 Ford Mustang was top prize of the annual Warrenton Lion’s Club Carnival. Co-chairman Neil Hick gave the keys to Mrs. Marion Woodward and Wesley Woodward, the lucky winners from Amissville.
