Dr. Bruce Lloyd from Bethesda Naval Hospital, disputed the diagnosis of senile dementia and encephalopothy, progressive brain disorders, reached by the plaintiff’s medical experts after review of the colonel’s records. He testified that he saw Holmes at least three or four times a week during his last stay in the hospital, the point at which the alleged will leaving the entire SI.8 million estate to Dr. Peter Neilson was executed. Lloyd said he was questioned repeatedly by Holmes and found the colonel's inquiries “quite astute...very intelligent." Noting that Holmes was seen by a large number of doctors while a patient at Bethesda— “probably too many to count"—Lloyd emphasized that no other physician had diagnosed him as having long term neurological diseases.
