Some local officials have questioned whether such a provision would be uphled byVirginia courts, and others note that a “local option" approach ignores the potential regional impacts of a uranium industry. Jack Herrity, Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, remains unconvinced of the appropriateness of that solution, and he noted that mining in-any area of the State might “op>en the door" for the uranium industry elsewhere.
