1. Make absolutely certain it w as a poisonous snake that bit you.
2. Stay calm and do not drink alcohol.

4. Apply suction at this point with a suction bulb or with the mouth if there are no sores or ulcers. Steps three and four are of little value if not done within the first 30 minutes after a bite.
Snake bites should not be iced and neither should tourniquets be applied to restrict the spread of venom. “That will concentrate the venom even more," Krebser said, adding that this concentration will kill muscles and skin and result in an injury that resembles a deep burn.
