Bar-B-Que, Music, Games The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary is planning an evening of fine eating, toetapping music and games for Saturday, September 4, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the firehall. The menu for the outdoor picnic will include fresh pork bar-b-que. grilled hotdogs, cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans, cake and drinks. Games will start inside in the firehall at 9 p.m. and throughout the evening, the air will echo with tunes from a live country music band. The public is invited to attend. Funds raised through the evening's activities will benefit the Ladies Auxiliary's projects and the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department.
Baldwins Hold Reunion The annual Baldwin family reunion will be held Saturday. September 4, at the Rappahannock Recreation Center on Route 21 1 across the highway from the tow n of Washington. Bring a picnic lunch and prepare to eat at 1 p.m.
Benefit Bluegrass A benefit bluegrass show sponsored by American Legion Post 330 will bring some of the nations top pickers, singers and strummers to Culpeper on Labor Day, Monday, September 6. The line up includes the Osborne Brothers. Jimmy Martin. Larry Sparks. Rise ‘N’ Shine and the Outdoor Plumbing Co. with Tom "Cat" Reeder and Red Shipley as emcees. I he Labor Day show w ill be held from noon until 7 p.m. at the American Legion Park on Route 229 two miles north of Culpeper. Tickets at $7 in advance and S8 at the gate. “Rock Out’’ Scheduled The first and only “r ek out" sponsored by the Washington Volunteer Fire Department will be held this Saturday, August 28, beginning at 6 p.m. at the fire station. Fireman Steve Krit/er, organizer of the "rock-out”, explained that rocks have to be removed from the fire station lot in order to cut the grass with a mower. Volunteers are invited to show up around 6 p.m. to pick up rocks scattered around the tire hall. Liquid refreshment will be provided for the workers.
C.V.F.P To Meet Castleton Volunteer Fire Department will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, September 1, at 8 p.m. at the fire hall. All members and interested persons are urged to attend.
