“Their combined efforts and hard work were rewarded by the end of their second day.” Brand said. At squad evaluations conducted by ICF staff, the Rappahannock girls were awarded a 110 per cent ribbon, the first tangible rew ard for their efforts.
The girls continued to improve and to utilize new cheering techniques as the week progressed. As a result, they brought home six new ribbons for the RCHS trophy case including a third place for excellence achieved during the camp’s final evaluation, noted Brand.
The varsity squad strongly believes that camp helped to motivate them in getting the sports season off to a great start, according to Brand. The girls plan to help organize pep rallies and establish a special pep section in the gym's bleachers for fans who want to holler.
