volunteer this year as coach or referee for the youth basketball program and plans to become involved in soccer fund raising further down the line. After two months on the job, Chappell doesn't foresee working for any drastic changes at RCHS. ‘‘It's a matter of continuing progress...I’d like to see each student achieve to the best of his or her ability. I want to put emphasis on attendance. You can’t learn if you're not in school. 1 want the students to get the best education possible and I want us to have the best scholastic program possible within the means of the county.”

As to specifics, Chappell hopes to organize a school newspaper, one that will match the RCHS yearbook. “The quality of the yearbook was one of the things that impressed me most about this school. It's one of the best I've ever seen.” He also plans a "big thrust" towards upgrading the computer end of the instructional program, using new equipment that brings the school’s computer line-up to four for such classes as math teacher Don Bomberger's mini-course in computer literacy.
