lo the editor:

I thought Rappahannock County had made a great deal of progress as far as the relationship between the races are concerned but the experience I just received has changed my mind.

I called our Rappahannock Public School Superintendent Robert S. Estabrook to make a complaint about one of our county’s bus drivers. Not the first complaint about the same driver, but the first one Robert S. Estabrook had received, so he claims.

The complains were made because during the past two years that my child has been enrolled in one of Rappahannock’s Public Schools, I have witnessed on countless occasions different treatment toward our black children than given to our white children who ride this particular bus. This goes along with reports from some of the youngsters who ride the bus, that this person used profaned language including racial remarks.
