Fisher told the council that plans were being made for the town’s Fourth-ofJulv celebration, which benefits the Washington Fire Company.
Hawkins reported to the council that she had received an invitation from the state litter control board to apply for a $300 grant. Hawkins successfully applied for a "trash can grant” last year and purchased the slotted hardwood containers now placed around town.
“These are the nicest containers I have ever seen," Hawkins said of the trash can holders made by Country Cupboards and purchased with the grant money. The council directed Hawkins to apply for the available money and purchase one more trash container, using the remaining funds for another litter control project.
Treasurer Brad Fisher told the council that the town was out of debt and funds were available to start some badlv-needed work on the town hall. Miller appointed a committee of Brad Fisher, Taylor Updike and C. E. Giles to draw up specifications for painting and structural repairs, for release to bidders.
