Big Successes In

Wakefield French Department Dr. William E. Lynn, headmaster of Wakefield School, announces the winners in "Le Grand Ooncours” the national competition in French which the school entered this year for the first time. In the Virginia chapter, the following students earned 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 10th place in their respective levels. They are Mary Jo Lawrence - grade 10. Lisa Larimer - grade 8, Jill Wemmer - grade 7. Sean Bennett - grade 8, and Carolyn Shaw - grade 7. On the national level, two students earned an “Honorable Mention” in the elementary school division of the contest. They are Tobias Dengel - grade 0, and Jennifer Anderson - grade (i. An award ceremony is planned for Modern Language Day on May 27th during which prizes and medals will be presented to the winners.

The French denartment. headed by Mrs. Donatienne Von Ludwig, has two other French teachers: Mrs. Helen Kuisi and Mrs. Margaret Wood.
