Arriving at Camp Friendship near Palmyra, Virginia, Friday evening, the Juniors, Cadettes and Seniors met Carlos, the camp’s hang-gliding instructor. Carlos showed them pictures of hang gliding and got them involved in trying out tennis, volleyball and badmitton. Meanwhile Assistant Junior Leader Wendy Smith demonstrated and taught some tumbling routines on the grass field in front of the girls’ cabins.

Saturday morning the Cadettes and Seniors headed for the ropes course while the Juniors tried out the trampolines at the gymnastics pavilion. Again Wendy Smith led the way, showing the girls how to do flips on the trampolines.

At the ropes course the Seniors and Cadettes found they needed to develop teamwork to get across the “alligator infested swamp” on two long boards, working together to lift first one, then the other. A lot of advanced planning was necessary to get the whole
