There are other warning signs that parents and friends should watch for in the teenagers they love; sudden changes in personality, loss of interest in things that were formerly interesting, discovery of hidden bottles and extreme mood sw ings.
There are programs that can help the teenage alcoholic, through AA and through the mental health clinic. “Adolescence is a time of great anxiety. Teenagers are just learning how to become social. They use alcohol as to artificially change the w'ay they feel, to alter their moods. It can get to be pattern,” Treanor said, stressing the importance of early treatment.
