Stuart Eiland, in his directing debut, has done an exemplary job. Eiland has caught Mr. Inoesco’s irreverant mood and brought to the production a cross between the antics of a Mack Sennett comedy and the gravity of conventional drama.

As Berrenger, John Hall gives a sustained performance that makes one practically break out in a neurotic itch from watching as he tries to get a grasp on what’s happening around him. His Berrenger makes the transition from the feckless clerk of Act I to the determined survivor of Act III believable.
