"The hoys finally did in a game what they’ve been doing all year in practice!” announced a smiling coach Glen Davis after his Panthers had their first win of the season last Friday in a home game against St. Ann’s Belfield of Charlottesville.
St. Ann’s scored the first two goals. “They were good shots, a bit of a break away. Paul (Cooper) didn't come out of the goalie’s box to cut down on their angle," said Davis, attributing the lapse to the first year goalie’s inexperience.
But this time, the Panthers didn’t lose their composure after falling behind. Coach Davis’ newr five-man front line—Will Oliver, Vinnie Caporuscio, Doug McCabe, Mike DeLouise and IAickv McCoy—regrouped. "It was the first start on the front line for Lucky and the first start period for Mike. They both did a real good job," said the coach.
The switch in line-up left the Panthers with just two fullbacks but the defense didn't seem to suffer. “John McKay and Brian Kritz played the best game they’ve ever played,” said Davis.
