The Panthers knocked over the reigning cross country champion, Strasburg, in a tri-meet last Wednesday at Cades Hill. “I’m real pleased to win this meet,” said Ann Spieker, “I hadn’t planned on meeting Strasburg this soon but cancellation of another meet put the Rams at Stonewall.”
When the results were tallied, it was Rappahannock 31, Strasburg 40 and Stonewall Jackson 57 in the Bull Run District meet.
Scott Keithley was first across the line in 16:32, 40 seconds ahead of the second place finisher from Strasburg. Chris Caperton and Ronnie Atkins pushed each other over the entire length of the 2.7 mile course with Caperton running a second in front for fourth in 17:20. Atkins was fifth in 17:21.
