"The most important issue is which candidate is truly willing to devote the time and effort necessary to he an effective commonwealth’s attorney," said can didate David L. Konick. “I’ve structured my personal and business affairs so I can devote myself to the job without any conflict of interest."
Hitting his qualifications, Konick said “I have more jury trial experience, more litigation experience, more Virginia supreme court experience and more federal court experience than my opponent.”
The candidate said he has “enforced the law vigorously but fairly and efficiently as a special prosecutor and as the zoning administrator for the past two years... I know I haven’t made everyone happy as zoning administrator but that job is to enforce the laws as they are written and not to win a popularity contest.”
According to Konick, the past few years have seen a nationwide increase in plea bargaining that has brought an accompanying increase in criminal activity and a decline in both morale of law enforcement personnel and public confidence in the criminal justice system.
