Without those volunteers and the other workers who already give their time and energy, the library won’t be able to continue what is perhaps the most important trend of all. “There’s a trend in libraries throughout the state and the nation toward automation. We’re reversing that here in Rappahannock,” said Helmer. “Here the trend is toward a more personal approach. Here your library needs are met by people, not by machines.”
