The health of children is an everyday concern at the Rappahannock County Health Department and throughout Virginia’s public health network. Some of the services provided for children include:
—Immunization: Virginia’s immunization law was revised in 1983 to require proof of immunization for all students at all grade levels rather than just those entering school for the first time. This will contribute to the continuing decline in vaccine-preventable diseases. Only 23 cases of measles have been reported through August of this year. Nearly 3,000 cases were reported in 1978.
