Sixth grade pupils in Becky Hawkins’ class are selling hand-made dolls for S3.50 each to raise money for the 7th grade class trip to Williamsburg. Hawkins says the pupils donated everything — sheets, dress material, filling, paint, yarn and thread.
The project includes three math groups and Hawkins says doll construction is a good way to learn consumer math, measuring and some basic geometry.
The pupils plan to sell 75 dolls by Christmas and Corey Thompson leads the group so far in sales.
