Raspberry Meringue Bars
IV* cup flour
■y* cup powdered sugar
IV* sticks butter or margarine, melted
1 jar raspberry or strawberry jam
3 egg whites
:V< cup sugar
V* teaspoon cream of tartar
Va cup chopped almonds
Blend flour, powdered sugar and melted butter; press into buttered 12x9 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and spread with jam. Beat egg whites until stiff, adding cream of tartar and sugar. Beat until glossy. Spread over jam layer; sprinkle with almonds. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool in pan before cutting. Store in airtight container. (Makes 2'/* dozen).
