Once upon a time, there was an entire village that caught the Christmas spirit, a village that organized a Christmas party for children and their families who were suffering under the weight of the Depression.
That village was Sperryville and its ouptouring of generosity came because of one hungry ljttle girl.
"It was in the 1930s— 1932 or 1933 1 think, recalled Aubrey Keyser. “A lot of people here didn’t have anything to eat but they never complained so the rest of us didn’t know.”
His wife Ann, then a teacher at the Sperryville school, remembers how it all started. “It was lunch time. We didn’t have a cafeteria or a school lunch program. The children and their teachers
