Carnegie Study

Superintendent Robert Estabrook distributed a chapter by the same name from the Carnegie Foundation high school study, a three year study which was published in September, according to Estabrook. Estabrook said his own agenda would be a way “to respond to the multitude of reports aimed our way during the past six to nine months.”

Estabrook said he wanted to make a number of recommendations from the Carnegie report, but would hold some until February budget work sessions. However, he discussed and supported the first two of 12 priorities identified in the Carnegie study: clarifying goals and the centrality of language.

Schools seem to have trouble focusing on goals because of the multitude of demands placed on them.
