Don Bomberger seems to be the most popular high school faculty member right now, assistant superintendent Tom Campbell told the School Board at its December 13 meeting. The popularity has to do with the high school’s new computer lab, which Bomberger told the board is attracting students before school, between classes and during their free time.
Bomberger said there was “a stampede of youngsters in the mornings waiting to get to the computers” and that the new glass windowed lab makes it easy for him to monitor students working with the computers while he’s teaching his regular math classes.
There are six computers in operation at the high school, Bomberger told the board. He uses them in his trigonometry and other advanced math classes. Advanced math students receive six weeks of instruction in basic programming and computer language. There are then followthrough exercises in later chapters, Bomberger said.
