Mrs. Bessie Corbin spent the weekend with Mrs. Elizabeth Settle at Brandy Station. Mrs. Corbin’s guests on Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Burke of Rochele and Ivan Jenkins of Alexandria.
Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Hitt of Cypress Knoll were guests Sunday afternoon of Mrs. Hitt’s grandmother, Mrs. Frances Eubank, in Washington.
It is with great interest here that we remember Rev. and Mrs. Cecil Carder of King of Prussia, Pa., who celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary Aug. 18. Since their marriage the Carders have served as missionaries in Thailand for 25 years with the American Baptist Board of International Ministries of which Mr. Carder has been secretary for Southeast China and Asia since 1980. The couple has three children, Jonita of Philadelphia, Cecil, Jr., of San Francisco and Jeanette who will graduate in December from a Virginia university. Mrs. Carder, the former Dorothy Hawkins, is a Boston native. Her mother, Mrs. Ertha Hawkins, and her brother, Joe, still live in Boston. She has other relatives here also. We wish the Carders Godspeed.
David Fridenstine, an officer and a senior this year, has entered Randolph Macon Academy and his sister, Lynn, will be a sophomore there. They have visited their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Fridenstine, this summer and are looking forward to weekend trips.
While we are on the subject of schools, we hope each of you is aware that schools are open and, please, let’s drive carefully. The child running in front of you could be your own, so please be careful and avoid a tragedy.
