A charge of driving on a suspended operator’s license against Gary Allan Price was reduced to no operator’s license in General District Court on Tuesday.
Deputy Gary Settle had stopped a car with Price and several other people from Shenandoah County in front of the high school during a traffic check. Deputy Settle had taken the driver of the car at that time to the courthouse for a breathalizer test, and he told the vehicle’s other occupants, including Price, to stay where they were.
Deputy Settle testified that he returned and found that the car was no longer in front of the school. He drove in the direction he thought they might have taken. He overtook and stopped the car, and found that Price was driving. Price told Deputy Settle that he did not have a license because it had been suspended.
Price testified that he had decided to drive home since he was the only person sober in the car. He said that he had paid all of his fines and fulfilled his obligations to DMV to have his license reinstated.
