some time with,” Kaman said. “As long as we’re doing something to learn, we don’t worry about rushing.”

He said that they had met Americans who were always in a hurry. “We count our mileage by the number of people we meet,” Raman said. “We could have come here and gone from city to city and then said we had seen America, but our idea of travel is not hopping around. America is its people.”

Raman and Raman hope to make it to Key West, and from there back home to their families, friends and schools. Raman is studying electronics and Raman is majoring in business administration.

Raman’s parents have encouraged him in his plans for adventures, but he said that he usually has to talk his friends’ parents into allowing their children to take part in projects.

Kaman’s parents did not know that their son was walking/running his way around the U.S. until they read a news story. “They wouldn’t have let me come if they had known what we planned,” Raman said.

Raman and Raman may try to revisit the people they have met during the trip before returning home, so the Scoggins may see the two adventurers from India again.
