It was encouraging to see the overwhelming support provided the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department Saturday at its first truck and tractor pull — the first-ever such endeavor in Rappahannock County.
Some 1,200 people paid their way into the carnival grounds for an afternoon of admiring men and their machines. It is estimated that another 1,000 people were on hand to witness the day’s events. They certainly got their money’s worth.
The local support, which fire department officials praised, indicates two things: One, give the people a good show and they won’t mind spending a part of their pay
